Home Bible Study Fellowships
Home Bible Study Fellowships… encountering God with other people in our lives. Riverside Community Church grew out of a home Bible study. Home Bible studies, and the experience of community and fellowship that they involve, are at the core of who we are as a church and who we believe God wants us to be. As God gives us growth and leads us into different kinds of ministry opportunities, it is our desire as elders that the vision and values of home Bible study fellowships will continue to be a central to the life of our church family.
We value the cultivation of personal relationships between believers which takes place in a small-group setting. Home Bible study fellowships focus on the ‘one-another’ of mutual ministry rather than simply one leader who ministers to the group. It is a ‘many-to-many’ rather than a ‘one-to-many’ ministry setting.
We value the open, honest, spiritual interaction; the sharing of life concerns; the opportunity for personal and practical application of truth to daily life; and the prayer for one another which home Bible studies can stimulate. The goal is not simply to learn truths, but the put truth into practice in a small-group setting.
We value the experience of a small group actually studying the Bible together. Normally our home Bible studies are expositional in nature (working through a Bible book or section) rather than topical. While it can be of great value to use a Bible study guide, we desire that the focus of the study should be the Bible itself, not the guide.
We value the home setting with its informality, accessibility, and warmth. We are thankful for all that having a church building makes possible, but we also want to be careful to maintain a home, neighborhood, and community focus for our church family.
Home Bible Study Fellowships meet in various homes throughout the area. We welcome you to investigate and join us! For more information or to contact one of the home group leaders below, send an email to (homegroups@rccstc.org).
