Fusion Student Ministry

Transforming Students into the image of Jesus

Purpose

To transform students into the image of Jesus.

The Fusion

(Instruction And Adoration)

We become like whatever we praise. Our image becomes the image of the whatever we want most. We want most whatever captivates our thoughts most. God has fashioned us to receive everything we need from Him. Love. Joy. Peace. Hope. The love of a parent. The joy of a sport's championship. The peace of a best friend. The hope of a prosperous future. Yet, if we pursue these things outside of God, the let us down. Parents fail. Trophies rust. Best friends abandon us. The future looks bleak. This is why we cannot adore these things higher than God. Adoring anything higher than God is idolatry. Jesus entered into humanity to purify us from idols. In our hearts, we either focus on God in Christ and he crucifies our idols or focus on our idols we crucify ourselves. It is our goal to be a gathering of students who meditate on God and admire Christ most so that we can be transformed into His image. Whether we are having conversations with each other, being instructed in His way, shouting to Him at the top of our lungs or playing games, we want to mull over the things of God and esteem who He is. Come and fuse your heart and mind to God every Wednesday night with us.

Faithful. Pure. Authentic. Friends.

(Fellowship Prayer Accountability)

Facebook, MySpace, and a host of other social networking websites allow students to connect with millions of people from all around the world. Connecting with many people is fine, but how many students can say with confidence that they are creating friendships that are deeper than a quick, one sentence comment on a personal website or shallow babble next to a locker? Don't get me wrong, we are supposed to have fun and joke around with our friends, but my guess is that students do not have deep and meaningful conversations too often. Not because students don't want it, but because this type of connection is scary. It involves risk – risk of being back-stabbed, risk being abandoned, risk being taken advantage of. When God comes to us in Christ, He presents himself as one who is faithful – he always keeps his word. He presents himself as pure – his intentions are for our good. And he presents himself as authentic – he is not fake. It is our goal to create these types of connections. This happens through fellowship – creating a deep bond in Christ with others for a specific purpose. This happens through prayer – communicating with God together and on behalf of one another. This happens through accountability – maintaining a pure connection to God with each other. Fusion does this by having special prayer nights, fellowship events (small groups for specific topics), and informal connection times (parties, scavenger hunts, etc).

Sacrifice.

(Service Projects)

In a culture that grabs fast food on the go, types messages instantly over the internet, and clicks videos to watch on demand, Jesus invites us to use our hands in a different way. Jesus hands did not come to instantly serve his own need, but to serve the needs of others; If we desire to be more like Jesus, we roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty serving others. There are tons of ways we do this: helping our parents and church with the younger kids, being on the praise team, helping around the building, being a greeter, cleaning up the community, doing carwashes, etc.

Mission.

(Outreach)

The same love that God gives to assemble us together is the love that compels us to get outside of our comfort zone and love people who we may not normally associate with. In order to accomplish this, students are given a mission to show and tell God's love in Christ. Not only does this mean going to different countries, but it also means going into their own high schools, jobs, and places that are not fused into God's love and plug them into it.
