The Roots of Riverside
Riverside Community Church grew out of a Home Bible Study Fellowship, and home studies like that original one have continued to play an important role in the life of our church. As the church has grown, so too have its HBSF groups as we strive to have home studies available on every day of the week and within easy reach of everyone in our congregation.
Riverside encourages the growth of these studies because it recognizes their value in helping us all grow to have a clearer understanding of what we believe, why we believe it, how to live it, and how to share it.
We study God's Word, not only because we are commanded to (Matthew 22:37), but because it is our privilege to do so, as well. We "seek first His kingdom and His righteousness" by hearing His voice speaking to us in the Scriptures, and we hear that voice most clearly in the company of fellow listeners and fellow believers.
We gather in our home groups each week or two not to know the Bible, but to know God - not to puff ourselves up with theological knowledge, but to be in continual wonder and awe at the person of God, the character of God, and the promises of God. We do this in fellowship because the joy of knowing God is made fuller and richer when it is expressed by and to others.
